Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

2. Go to the gym. Each member of your group must make a basket to earn your letter.2

4. Go to Lost & Found. Using the play-doh, each of you must make a critter. (Be sure to put the dough away when you're done.)4
5. Go to the stairs in the cafeteria. Play charades with your group. Each group member must act out at least one card that is guessed correctly. Remember, you can't use words or sounds when you play. Only one group may play at a time.5
6. Go to where you pay for your food, use the whiteboard and figure out the answer to 9876 x 1234 to earn your letter.6
7. Go to where you learn about the four areas of wellness. Figure out two think-grams to earn your letter.7
8. Go to the cafeteria exit near the bathrooms. In the hallway, use the whole group to sing, and dance to "I'm a little teapot" to earn your letter. (Don't pretend you don't know!)8
9. Go to the stage and show Mrs. Otto your best dance moves to earn your letter!! One group at a time, please.9
10. Find the ping pong table and use 4 group members to volley at least 15 times in a row to earn your letter.10
11. All group members must crab-walk the width of the basketball court to earn your letter.11
12. Final Challenge: Using the letters, figure out the hidden message. All 11 letters and numbers will be used.12
