Emperors in Ancient China are the equivalent of a King or Queen. We chose to include emperors in the diamond nine as they are a very imrpotant part of Ancient China as they would dictate and control the future of China.

Chinese Flag
China's national flag was adopted in September, 1949. This flag was first flown in Tiananmen Square on October 1, 1949 - the day of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The rectangular flag has a red field with five golden-yellow stars (each with five points) in the upper left corner. The star on the left is larger than the other four. We chose to include the Chinese flag in tha diamond nine as the flag is what identifies China and what represents it.

Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest sights in the world β€” the longest wall in the world, an awe-inspiring feat of ancient defensive architecture. Its winding path over rugged country and steep mountains takes in some great scenery. We chose to include the Great Wall of China is it one of the natiosn icons and many people who are foriegn to China recognise China as home to the Great Wall of China.

Great Panda
The giant panda, also known as panda bear or simply panda, is a bear native to south central China. It is easily recognized by the large, distinctive black patches around its eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. We chose this because it is the main attraction and animal in China and has been there for a very long time.

Terracotta Warriors
The Terracotta Army or the Terracotta Warriors and Horses is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. I chose this as it shows one of the armies from the first army and is significantly important.

Compass
The compass is one of the four ancient inventions by Chinese people that have had a huge impact on the entire world. The invention of paper greatly contributed to the spread and development of civilization. This is important as it has helped develop the world around us and they were made in CHINA

Big Budha
The Big Budha in Hong Kong is also known as Tian Tan Budha. It is a big bronze statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. I chose this because it shows one of the religons of China.

Beijing
Beijing, China’s massive capital, has history stretching back 3 millennia. Yet it’s known as much for its modern architecture as its ancient sites such as the grand Forbidden City complex, the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. We chose this as it is the capital of China and as we mentioned before has been around for a very long time!

Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the Chinese calendar. It is also known as the Spring Festival, the literal translation of the modern Chinese name. Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally run from Chinese New Year's Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar. The first day of the New Year falls between January 21 and February 20.
