Islam

- Divine force is known as Allah, but is not the personal name of the said deity and merely the Arabic word for god
- Places of worship are Mosques
- Employs the Quran as the principle holy scripture
- Regards Jesus as a prophet, but not the greatest and known as Isa
- There is no concept of original Sin, but does exist and syas human weakness leads to sin
- Salvation is attained through virtous deeds and righteousness must outweigh personal sin
- The concept of Hell is a realm known as Jahannam, has seven layers representing egregious sins one worst than the last and a person may not spend eternity there
- Believes Judgment day will determine

Christianity (Catholicism)

- Founded by Jesus Christ in the 1st century AD
- Divine force is known simply as God
- Places of worship are churches
- Employs the Bible as the priciple holy scripture
- Regards Jesus as the Messiah, son of God, part of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and the Holy Ghost) and shall return one day
- The concept of Sin is an inherited trait from Adam and Eve (mostly Adam) and was toned for when Jesus died on the cross
- Salvation is attained by the acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Messiah and son of God
- The concept of Hell is a realm of everlasting torment that is the punishment for sinners

 

 

Judaism

- Founded by Abraham by what most scholars believe is 1800 BCE
- Divine force is known as Yahweh
- Places of worship are synagogues
- Regarded as the oldest monotheistic religion
- Employs the Torah and the Tanakh as the priciple holy scriptures
- Regards Jesus as an ordianry Jew and not the Messiah or son of God
- Rejects the doctrine of original sin and atonement is rendered through seeking forgiveness from Yahweh in prayer and repentance
- Salvation is attained through virtuous deeds, prayer and the grace of Yahweh
- The concept of Hell is a realm known as Sheol, which is the place the dead descend to and is where all people no matter if of virtuous or malicious charcter descend and is also a realm of pure darkness.

- Believes Jesus was a prophet
- Were influenced by Judaism
- Believe that Jesus will return

- Both do not regard Jesus Christ as the Messiah
- have fasting periods
- Prayed several times a day

- Both use the ten commandments
- Was founded in the Southern Levant (modern-day Israel, Palestine and Jordan)
- Both have suffered persecution over the ages (Events leading to the Jewish dispora, Jews are accused of the black plague and Nero accuses Christians of the great fire of Rome in 64 CE

- All three believe their is one true deity (it all so happens all three worship the exact same deity)
- All three are related to Abraham
- All three have a concept of the afterlife, judgment day, salvation and punishmnet
