Can be converted into fractions.
Has decimals that never end (pi, etc...).

A numerical quantity that is not a whole number.
Can be converted into decimals.
Can be simplified and have infinite equivalent fractions.
Not whole numbers.
Rational numbers, as long as the denominator isn't zero.
Can be positive or negative.
