Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

1. LETTER = M. When you want some food and you’re in MC6 where could you go? Find your next clue there!
2. LETTER = A. Alison is our mentor for MC6. Can you find her office using your MC6 map? Your next clue is there!
3. LETTER = I. As well as Alison we have student services which can be found in the main building. This is where your next clue is hiding.
4. LETTER = Z. Take the stairs near student services and go to room 1.085, this is where biology is taught – all other sciences are here too. Go find the clue!
5. LETTER = E. As you study you will need to do a lot of your own independent work. You can do this in the LRC. The LRC can be found up the ‘wonky stairs’ in the middle of the ‘street’ in the main college. Your next clue is there.
6. LETTER = B. Under the wonky stairs there is a lift. Find it and go up to the fourth floor. You will find your next clue outside of the art studio in room 4.018.
7. LETTER = A. Go back to MC6. Above reception you will find the cube, a nice place to relax. Go find your next clue!
8. LETTER = N. One of the physics rooms can be found in the new extension of MC6 in room s1.040. Your next clue can be found outside of there!
9. LETTER = G. Well done this is your last letter. Go back to your base room, unscramble the letters to make a phrase and tell your tutor it!
