I forgot my laptop at home, what do I do?Borrow from the school library - while supplies last.
What is tech-for-tech?Give a personal device as a trade for a borrowed school laptop.
My laptop is dead or has a low battery at school, what should I do?Make sure you have your charge cord and it is up to the teacher if you are permitted to charge your laptop.
Should I shut down my laptop after every class?No put your device in standby or hibernate mode to provide faster startup. Shut down at the end of the day.
My laptop is dusty or has fingerprints, how do I clean it?Never use liquids only a lint free, anti-static cloth.
My laptop needs repaired, who can help me?There will be a student run helpdesk. Please see them as soon as possible with teacher permission. Only DCTS should be repairing your laptop.
I go to sports practice right after school, where should I secure my laptop?Use the locker room lockers and have a lock available at all times.
I am withdrawing from DCTS, do I need to return my laptop? What happens if I do not return it?YES within 24 hours of withdrawing. Failure to return will result in full payment of the laptop, disciplinary action and/or legal action.
I have a file on my laptop that I don't use, but it was there from day 1, can I delete it?No it could interfere with the functionality of the laptop. If you are concerned speak with a teacher.
I do not have internet at home, will I still be able to work online with my DCTS laptop? Are there free WIFI locations near me?No you will need to get home internet (Comcast has a plan) or use the free wireless hotspots in your area.
I have personal files on my computer, are they safe if DCTS searches my computer?The laptop is property of DCTS and can be searched at any time for any reason. There is no right or expectation of privacy on the school issued laptop.
What is one-to-one computing?A concept where every student will have a device to use at school and at home to promote 21st century learning.
How will I know the rules for each classroom?Each teacher will post/discuss a set of rules that works for their classroom.
There is a label on my laptop, am I able to remove it?No this label identifies that this laptop is yours and property of DCTS.
What three items will be issued to each student?Laptop Computer, AC Adaptor and Power Cord, and Carrying Case.
