Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

Question

Answer

1. Dharmadev and Bhakti Maata once sent Ghanshyam Mahraj to flee the birds in the Trikonyu Kethar (Farm) who were picking at the wheat which had grown in the farm. When Ghanshyam Mahraj got there he became bored very quickly and gave all the birds samadi so that they would not ruin the farm and went to play with his friends. Bhakti Mata came and found the bird lying in samadi and Ghanshyam was playing in the distant with his friendsTrikonyu Khetar
2. When Rampratapji was of the right age, Bhakti Mata decided to find him a wife. The marriage with Suvasini was agreed and on the wedding day the jaan (Dharmadev and family) went to Tar Ghaam to get Rampratapbhai married to SuvasiniSuvasini
3. Ghanshyam was very fond of listening to KATHA. A sadhu named Haridas used to read the Ramayan in his hut. Ghanshyam would go there along with his friends and listen to the Ramayan. Once after listening to the Ramayan, Ghanshyam said to his friends, “Come on, let us go to the pond to bathe.” Everyone bathed for a long time. Then they began to play on the trees on the pond bank. Ghanshyam climbed up a tamarind tree. While in the enthusiasm of playing, he was climbing down the tree, a piece of stubble of the tamarind tree cut his right thigh and he bled profusely. Doctors bandaged him. The bleeding stopped. The wound was healed. But the print of the wound remained there permanantlyKhampa Talavadi
4. “Yes, it is true,” said the devotees. “The hungry and the wretched fall in one category. My dear devotees, it is a duty of a householder to give food to anyone without considering religion, relation, friend or foe, a countryman or a foreigner. The hungry should be fed. Giving of food is greater than giving gold. And the knowledge of the form of Shri Hari (God) is even superior to food giving. But it comes to a later stage after giving food.” Now the dark clouds of suspicion in the minds of devotees were dispersed. They gave the beggar boy sufficient food to eat. Serve the hungry with food to one's mightGhadada
5. Though the boy desired to taste the fruits, he didn't. How pleased Maharaj was! We should bear in mind that we have to please Maharaj. Do as directed by Maharaj. As for example: Maharaj has directed us to study, so we must study. He has ordered us never to commit a theft, so we must not.Cucumin
6. But Nilkantha Varni had no complete satisfaction. He thought to himself, “Anything improper is done by me through overnight, it must be stopped.” So he cursed his own words, “Fruitless be my words when spoken unknowingly,” Thus only Nilkantha Varni has shown such a power of cursing his own wordFire
7. The head was imprisoned. The wrestler tried hard to pull out his head, but in vain. He could not. His body perspired completely. Maharaj lifted his hand slowly and the wrestler fell down like a sack of grain. Maharaj laughed and all present all laughed. The wrestler's chest now pressed inside and he could not lift his face to see, so much ashamed he was! Maharaj told him, “Have you realised anything now? Howsoever powerful a wrestler you might be, never go to a temple or to a saint so haughtily broadening your chest. We should never go to satsang so haughtily but very humbly.”Wrestler
8. The temple-worshipper opened the container and saw a dead cockroach in it. The temple-worshipper who had lost temper a short while ago, now cooled down after seeing his mistakes openly proven. “Now you are true Sheetaldas,” said GhanshyamSheetaldas
9. Glimpse of God. He fell at the feet of Varni. “Don't be disappointed,” said Varni, “Life is for living, not for dying. God is the master of life and death. Therefore, always surrender yourself to the evil of God. Never think of committing suicide The man who kills others is a great sinner. But a person who commits suicide is a greater sinner so never commit such a sin.” “I will never commit such a sin, “ said that man and he went home quietly. Varni them proceeded aheadNilkanth Varni
10. Dosabhai was very much surprised. His wife said, “The robbers raided our village after you had gone. Every house was robbed. They went away after robbing, cash, gold, ornaments and whatever they could. They also came to our house, ransacked all boxes, but they found nothing. How can they find? You, my dear husband had taken away all.” Now Dosabhai understood that Maharaj played this trick only to protect his wealth. The next day, Dosabhai went to the well and brought out his bundle of wealth. Such was Shriji Maharaj. Whosoever surrenders himself completely to Maharaj, he has nothing to worry aboutDosabhai
11. “O my God! Is this the reason?” she asked. She took him on her sides, fondled him and said, “Be sure that a top will be in your hands in the morning, O.K!” At last compromise was reached between the two. The next morning the sister-in-law brought a top for her dear brother-in-law. Ghanshyam was very much pleased and went to play, spinning the top, with his friendsTickle
12. Thus she completed the fixed amount somehow or other even by borrowing the remaining amount, and repeatedly bowed down her head at the feet of Maharaj. Maharaj was pleased at her and blessed her.Rupees
13. The heads of the teacher and the Sadhus were downcast. No one could utter a single word. The people who had assembled there said, “Child- Ghanshyam tells the truth. He is young in age but the greatest in divinity.Hanumangadhi
14. On seeing this, all the ascetics returned to their original nature and cried, “ Are they lions ? They are dogs.” Varni could easily know the hypocricy of the sadhus. Varni winked at the lions and said, “O lions, these people call you dogs. Are you dogs ?” The lions roared like the thunder from the sky and all the lions were on their feet. The ascetics knew that the death was at their door. The lions will not let them go free without devouring them. “Save us, save us”, they shouted and fell at Varni's feet. Varni took pity on them, and he at once silenced all the lions. Again all the lions were at Varni's feet. On one side the ascetics began to embrace Varni, and on the other side all the lions embraced Varni!.Lion
15. Nobody had a slightest thought of these labourers, so they said, “No, Maharaj. We have not invited them.” “Invite them. I want to give food to them, too,” said Maharaj. At once everybody rushed to the fields and all the labourers were brought with all honour. Maharaj himself served them food with great love. Labourers' joy knew no bound. Such was Shreeji MaharajLove
