QR Challenge: SEAP Treasure Hunt

Created using the ClassTools QR Treasure Hunt Generator

Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

Question

Answer

1. I know when you come to school, I know when you leave. I never blink, I always see, except if you walk behind me.
2. I am famous, and throughout the World, I'm known. But strangely, although I am loved, I am often shot or thrown. People don't like it when I travel, but I am always bouncing here or there. And my favorite thing is flying through the air. If your aim is good and you toss me just right I will reward you with 1,2 or 3 points, much to your delight. You want to come see me. I'm waiting here for you. I am where “most days,” people dribble or shoot me. To complete your task and find the next clue that’s what you must do.
3. Fee-fi-foo-fum! The task and clue that you seek, can be found on the walls of the homes where these people sleep. Tread lightly here for if they awake, piles and piles of homework for the holiday you will be forced to take! Find the QR code, and scan for your task and next clue.
4. 3. With your task complete its time to move forward, the next clue is waiting for you. Look for a giant red Oval with painted white stripes. On the far side there be a row of nature’s soldiers, standing tall and true. With their large green tops, and bright white socks, finding them should be easy, if you are smart as a fox. Just look for the ones standing on guard along a red brick wall.
5. Every fall you begin the school year, with a competition in sports, between you and your peers! You and your classmates will show no fear as you display your school spirit through marching, dancing or even cheer. Eager to see the show you create; the headmaster and teachers will congregate. Ready to take photos and see what you do, but from down on the field, it's quite difficult to view. To solve this problem (and find the next clue), you need to find a high place.
6. I look like a house but you don't want to live in me. The kids like to climb and play all over me.
7. You use me to cross safely over rivers, roads, or deep canyons.
