Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

• Download a QR reader (e.g. I-Nigma | NeoReader | Kaywa) onto their mobile devices
• Bring these devices into the lesson.

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

2. How many fieldwork hours are required for this course?	None
3. What will we learn in this course?	Candidates will learn to choose appropriate technologies and use them effectively to impact student academic achievement.
4. What happens if I am absent more than two times?	Candidates who miss more than two class sessions must meet with me to discuss options for withdrawal/drop, incomplete or (in rare cases) make up work in order to avoid a grade of F.
5. How will my grade be computed in this course?	Total Points System
6. What happens if I turn in an assignment late?	For each day an assignment is late, you will incur a 10% deduction for that assignment’s grade.
7. What are my options if I cannot attend class because I am ill?	Contact me and you will be allowed to join the class via Skype.
8. How will I lose my participation point for each class?	If you are seen using technology or becoming distracted by other resources or people during the class time for tasks unrelated to the course, or if you come to class with no notes for the assigned readings, you will earn no participation points for the day (even if you contribute to the discussion)
9. When am I allowed to use my cell phone in class?	During a class activity
10. What will happen if I submit work that is not cited, and is not of my own creation?	Any work submitted without references will earn a grade of zero
11. What will happen if I submit work that has been plagiarized?	Students who are found to have cheated on exams or plagiarized in written work will earn no credit for the work in question; if there is a subsequent infraction the student will receive a grade of “F” for the course, and may face more severe consequences from Marist College.
