Olympe de Gouge

Born: I was born May 7, 1748 in Montauban, France.
Family: My mother's name is Anne Olympe Mouisett Gouze, and the true identity of my father remains unknown. Many say that his identity might be either Pierre Gouze or Jean-Jacques Lefranc, Marquis de Pompignan. I have a son named Pierre Aubry as well.
Spouse: I was once married to Louis Aubry, but unfortunately he passed. As a result, I am not looking to marry again. I am single!
Profession: As a French social reformer and professional writer, I strive to advocate for women's rights as well as other important political issues. Other important social issues I advocate for include divorce, abolitionism, maternity hospitals and care, as well as the rights of unmarried women and orphaned children.
Education Background: I did not attend a school or university to receive any education, but I learned some knowledge through my time around male colleagues in Paris. I did not have an extensive educational background, but I have enough knowledge to produce novellas, poems, plays, and other forms of writing.
Political Views: I advocate for a constitutional monarchy, equal rights between men and women, and equal opportunity for all people regardless of their race, gender, or beliefs.
Religious Beliefs: I am considered an atheist because I believe that the religion limits women from certain rights and beliefs. I think that the nuns and priests involved in Catholicism strongly corrupt and interefere with the developement of the beliefs of women.
Activities: I love to write political and opinion-based books as well as plays.
Interests: I am interested in advocating for women rights and promoting equality for women. I enjoy debating and challenging political views and opinions with the people around me. Also, I enjoy composing a variety of plays, novellas, and other forms of writing in order to communicate important information with society.
Favorite Books: My favorite books include The Rights of Woman, Les Trois Urnes, and Le Deuxième sexe, which all are pieces that I wrote centered around the rights of women and politics. Books from modern times I enjoy reading include Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez, The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer, and Women Don’t Owe You Pretty by Florence Given.
