{"id":3077,"date":"2015-02-01T19:21:27","date_gmt":"2015-02-01T19:21:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/?p=3077"},"modified":"2016-07-15T11:56:21","modified_gmt":"2016-07-15T11:56:21","slug":"design-a-hollywood-film-poster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/design-a-hollywood-film-poster\/","title":{"rendered":"Students design a Hollywood Film about the study topic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A great way to get students familiar with the key events of a historical person&#8217;s life and consider concepts of significance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage 1: Start by outlining the central task\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[themify_box style=&#8221;purple\u00a0comment rounded&#8221; ]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are a Hollywood director producing a film about [person \/ topic].<\/li>\n<li>You will produce a poster advertising your film, including:\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211; A dramatic <strong>title<\/strong> for the film<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; 4 \u201c<strong>Screenshots<\/strong>\u201d from the film depicting the key events<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; <strong>Captions<\/strong> under each screenshot describing the events<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; A <strong>cast list<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Some <strong>quotes<\/strong> from the film reviewers!<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Some &#8216;tie-in&#8217; <strong>merchandise<\/strong> relevant to the topic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/themify_box]<\/p>\n<p>Provide students with a timeline of events. Read it through as a class then each student circles off four events that they\u00a0think will work particularly well on the cinema screen. (decide whether you want to depict the main character\u00a0as a hero or a villain. Discuss as a class first some famous film titles).<\/li>\n<li>What 4 events will you choose to focus on? (aim for different moods: drama, suspense, humour, violence, romance\u2026)<\/li>\n<li>Choose 5 people from the timeline: Which famous actors would you use to play each of these\u00a0characters?<\/li>\n<li>What sorts of reviews would you include?<\/li>\n<li>What sort of merchandise could you advertise as a &#8216;tie-in&#8217; promotion?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/themify_box]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage 3 [optional]: Developing the cast list<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provide the students with a copy of a PowerPoint template with the main characters listed in it, and space for them to put alongside their choice of actors.
