Students can decode these\u00a0using a mobile device running\u00a0a free app (e.g.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/i-nigma.com\/\">I-Nigma<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.neoreader.com\/\">NeoReader<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/reader.kaywa.com\/\">Kaywa<\/a>).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the QR code represents a piece of text (e.g. a useful fact, or an answer to a question) this\u00a0will simply be displayed on the screen without there even being a need for an internet connection.<\/li>\n<li>If the QR code is instead a link to a webpage or an online video, this resource will be loaded immediately provided there is an internet connection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>QR codes are therefore a great way to draw students into reading fresh information and visiting useful\u00a0websites and giving them new information.<\/p>\n<h1>The Bookmarklet<\/h1>\n<p>I have written this simple application to allow you to create a QR code for any webpage you are visiting with just one click. Put each one on a different sheet of paper with the title &#8220;To learn more about X, scan this code!&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Create QR codes which\u00a0are textual answers to key questions. Place the QR code on a sheet of paper, with the question above it and the prompt (&#8220;To find the answer to this question, scan the code!&#8221;).<\/li>\n<li>Create QR codes which sit alongside a key image (for example, an unnamed historical character). Students are challenged to scan the code, which takes them to a webpage about that person.
