{"id":4701,"date":"2016-06-08T18:23:27","date_gmt":"2016-06-08T18:23:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/?p=4701"},"modified":"2016-07-16T12:41:41","modified_gmt":"2016-07-16T12:41:41","slug":"crowdsource-your-marking-with-twitterfacebook-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/crowdsource-your-marking-with-twitterfacebook-polls\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowdsource your marking with Twitter\/Facebook polls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every year at the International School of Toulouse we run the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/produce-a-portrait-on-a-hard-boiled-egg\/\">&#8216;Hard Boiled Humanities&#8217; Easter egg competition<\/a>, which is great fun for the students and produces some superb classroom display pieces.<\/p>\n<p>This year, I found it impossible to judge on the overall winner as there were so many superb entries, so I decided instead to open it up to teachers. I used the &#8216;create poll&#8217; feature on Facebook (Twitter has a similar feature) to ask my colleagues on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/ibhistoryteachers\/\">IBDP History Teachers&#8217; Support Group<\/a> to vote on their favourite.<\/p>\n<p>I uploaded the images of each entry to help them decide. and then simply abided by wisdom of the crowd:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4702\" src=\"http:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/-57-943x1024.\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 20.17.53\" width=\"943\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4704\" src=\"http:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/-59-708x1024.\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 20.24.00\" width=\"708\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The winner was then awarded with a suitably luxurious chocolate egg from our Humanities Department!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4703\" src=\"http:\/\/www.classtools.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/-58-891x1024.\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 20.22.55\" width=\"891\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The process was completely transparent and I displayed the results on my classroom door so there could be no accusations of unfairness and favouritism.<\/p>\n<p>Why not consider opening your next student competition to the Twitterverse or to a Facebook group that you are a member of?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every year at the International School of Toulouse we run the &#8216;Hard Boiled Humanities&#8217; Easter egg competition, which is great fun for the students and produces some superb classroom display pieces.
