QR Challenge: Induction Questions

Created using the ClassTools QR Treasure Hunt Generator

Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

Question

Answer

1. Making a phone call: You may use your phone to connect to the student Wi-Fi and access the internet and other sites via your mobile. You cannot make a phone call in the Learning Centre, as this would create too much noise. Please go out if you must make or receive a call.NA
2. Six: Each person can borrow a maximum of six books at any time.NA
3. 8.30am: The Learning Centre opens at 8.30am every morning. Please check for opening hours during the holidays, as these may vary.NA
4. £25.00: Each learner is given a balance of £25 each academic year to help towards the costs of printing. This balance can be added to at any time, should you use your £25 allowance, but any credit left in the account cannot be exchanged for cash.NA
5. Yellow: There are many different coloured tabs on the computers in the Learning Centre. Green, blue, red and white coloured tabs are the computers booked for classes to use throughout the day. The tutor or class that has booked the computers, along with the time slot for the booking, can be seen on the notice board next to the Librarians desk. The yellow tabs are our drop in computers, which you are free to use at any time.NA
6. 10p per book per day: Fines for books that are returned late are charged at 10 pence per book per day. This might not seem like a lot, but when you have taken out six books and return them a month late, this can really add up! Remember, books can be renewed over the phone if you cannot make it in to college when they need to be returned.NA
