Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

1. Head out the door and take a left. Go down the first hallway on your left and find the next QR code.answer
2. This is Mrs. DerCola’s office. You are welcome to stop in her office any time…as long as your teachers know! Head back down this hallway and take a left. Find the next QR code in the hallway. answer
3. This is the program office. In this office you can find Mrs. LiBritz the VP-TECH secretary. She will help you whenever Mrs. DerCola or Mrs. O’Brien are not available. Head out to the main lobby and find the next QR code. answer
4. This is the lobby. This is where you will wait to be released to the classrooms in the morning. You will also be able to eat lunch in the lobby as long as you clean up your mess and leave the lobby neat and clean. Find the second QR code in the lobby. answer
5. These are the bathrooms that are available for your use. These bathrooms are used by multiple people in the complex, so please keep them clean and use them appropriately. Head up the ramp and turn left. Head all the way down the hallway and find the next QR code…this one may be tough to find! answer
6. This is the gym. This is where you will have P.E. class. Your P.E. teacher, Miss Taggart, will talk to you about changing and use of the locker rooms when you have your first P.E. class. Head back up the hall and find the next QR code on the right hand side of the hall. answer
7. This is the special education wing. There are lots of little kids up in this wing. Be quiet when walking through the halls and watch out for little ones running around! Head down this same hall and look for the next QR code in the left. answer
8. This is Mrs. Pagano’s room. When she is not teaching in VP-TECH or at Pathways, she can be found working with the special education classes in here! Continue down this hall and find the next QR code on your right. answer
9. This is the nurses’ office. Mrs. Wellington and Mrs. Alberts are here to help any way they can. The office can get busy so please be patient! Look across the hall and find the next QR code. answer
10. This is the cafeteria. This is where you will get your lunch. If there is room in the cafeteria you are able to eat in here as well as in the lobby. There will also be lots of little ones eating in here, so watch your language and behavior. They will pick up everything you do. Head down the hall and find the next QR code on the left. answer
11. This is the culinary and hospitality wing. If you’re nice to the culinary students they may bring you treats! Head down the hallway next to this code and find the next QR code. answer
12. These are the conference rooms. We may use these rooms for large events. Take a left at the end of the hallway and head back down past our classrooms. Look for the next QR code on your right. answer
13. This is the upper CTE wing. Here you will find the criminal justice program, visual communications program and cosmetology program. Head down the hall and take the first hallway on your left. Find the first QR code on your left. answer
14. This is the health sciences hallway. These students are busy learning to work in the healthcare field. Head down the hall and find the next QR code on your right. answer
15. This room is the future advanced manufacturing lab for VP-TECH. You will be spending a lot of time in this room in the next few years! Head down the hall to the next QR code. answer
16. This is the lower CTE wing and shop area. There are many different classes down here including heavy equipment operation, conservation, small engine repair and welding. Head back up the hallway and back out to the main hallway. Head back toward our classrooms. Find the sign that says copy room and turn right into the doorway. Find the next QR codeanswer
17. This is Mrs. O’Brien’s office. She is always available to help and support you in any way that you need. You have now reached the end of the building QR tour. Head back to the VP-TECH classrooms and begin talking with your group about the layout of the building and what you saw. answer
