Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

2. 2. Go to the Freshman Hallway (3rd floor)-What room number is Mrs. Friszell’s office (Assistant Principal). Take a picture in front of it. Bonus points if you introduce yourself and take a picture with her!
3. 3. Find the science hall (2nd floor)-What number is Mr. Kovac’s room? Take a picture in front of his door.
4. 4. Find the language hall (1st floor)-What number room is the Chinese/Health room? (Hint, it will have Chinese decorations on it). Take a picture in front of the decorations.
5. 5. Find the English hall (2nd floor)-What number is Mrs. Morgan’s (she teaches English and sponsors the yearbook) room? Take a picture in front of her door. Bonus points if you can get someone to do a handstand in the picture.
6. 6. Find the front office (1st floor)-What are the names of the wonderful ladies in the front office?. Ask politely to take a picture with Ms. Bosch Diaz (if she’s busy, take a picture in front of the desk)
7. 7. Find the Math lobby (2nd floor)-Which room number is Mrs. Austin (10th grade Asst. Principal). Take a picture in front of her door. Bonus points if you introduce yourself and take a picture with her!
8. 8. Find the Business lobby (3rd floor)-How many countries are represented on the mural of the peacock (this is a representation of all the cultures that are in our school--)? Take a picture in front of the peacock.
9. 9. Find the cafeteria (1st floor)-Which room number is ISS located in? Take a sad picture in front of the ISS room (because it will be sad if you have to go there.).
10. 10. Go to the business hall (3rd floor)-Which room number is Mr. Cody’s classroom? Take a picture in front of his door.
11. 11. Go to the gym (outside)-How many doors are located in the front of the gym? Take a picture in front of the doors.
12. 12. Go to the auditorium What room number is it? (fine arts hall-you can get there through the freshman academy hall) - Take a video of you dancing on stage.
13. 13. Go the the media center (2nd floor)- What room number is it? Take a picture outside the doors-->Make sure to avoid anyone working on the new floor!
14. 14. Go to the history hall (3rd floor)-What room number is Mr. Gonzales’ room? Take a picture in front of one of the posters outside his room. Bonus points if you are hugging the wall in the picture.
15. 15. Go to the counseling office (1st floor)-What is the name of the school social worker? Take a picture in front of her office.
16. 16. Go to the stairs in the front of the school where students are dropped off by cars in the morning (outside)-How many steps are there total, from top to bottom? Take a picture in front of the steps going up to the school.
17. 17. Go to the giant Warrior (outside by student parking lot)-Which hand is he holding in the air? Take a video with him shouting “GO Warriors” as you do
18. 18. Go to the CTE lobby (2nd floor)-Which room number is the Art room? Take a picture in front of the door next to the face of Madonna.
19. 19. Go to the lost and found box (1st floor)-What color is it? Take a picture pointing at the box.
20. 20. Go to Ms. Pass’s office (3rd floor)-What is the message written on her door? There is a large poster board sitting by her door. Hold it up and take a picture with everyone’s face showing (and smiling-->because she loves smiles).
