Created using the ClassTools QR Treasure Hunt Generator

Teacher Notes

A. Prior to the lesson:

1. Arrange students into groups. Each group needs at least ONE person who has a mobile device.

2. If their phone camera doesn't automatically detect and decode QR codes, ask students to

3. Print out the QR codes.

4. Cut them out and place them around your class / school.

B. The lesson:

1. Give each group a clipboard and a piece of paper so they can write down the decoded questions and their answers to them.

2. Explain to the students that the codes are hidden around the school. Each team will get ONE point for each question they correctly decode and copy down onto their sheet, and a further TWO points if they can then provide the correct answer and write this down underneath the question.

3. Away they go! The winner is the first team to return with the most correct answers in the time available. This could be within a lesson, or during a lunchbreak, or even over several days!

Question

Answer

1. A lower resting heart rate means that your heart works more efficiently. The best way to think about it is to view your heart as a muscle, and the more you work it, the stronger it gets. A stronger heart means more blood with each beat, and the same amount of work can be done with fewer beats. If your heart needs more beats to do the same amount of work, over time this can lead to cardiovascular disease and/or heart attacks. Why is it important to check your resting heart rate?
2. Get 60 minutes of aerobic exercise each day to lower your resting heart rate. Other ways include maintaining a healthy weight, stay hydrated, and regularly get a full nights sleep. How can you lower your resting heart rate?
3. 220- your age = maximum heart rateMaximum heart rate formula
4. You target heart rate zone is when your heart rate is 60% to 80% of your maximum heart rate while exercising. What is your target heart rate zone?
5. Your maximum heart rate x 0.60 = the lowest number of your target heart rate zone Your maximum heart rate x 0.80 = the highest number of your target heart rate zone.Calculate your target heart rate zone.
6. Exercising in this zone benefits you the most while also decreasing the risks for the body. Why is it important to exercise in your target heart rate zone?
