Physical Features of the U.A.E.
- The surface of the earth is made up of various physical features.Let us examine some of the features.For example: the sharp curving on the coast line make some areas stretch into the water: they are called headlands.Some of these headlands are some-times low.some of these physical features can be observed in the U.A.E.Here are some of the physical features:
1.Creeks
* A creek is a narrow inlet of water on the sea shore or in a river bank.
* A creek is usually shallow.
* Creeks are very useful because they are natural harbours.
* There are creeks in the U.A.E.Among them is the Khoor
Khuwair.
2.Capes
* A cape is a high point of land jutting into the sea.
* There are many capes on the coasts of the U.A.E.
* They are on both the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
* The inhabitants of the coastel areas have benefited a great deal by these capes for :
- setting up their ports
- sea transport
3.Gulfs
* A gulf is a part of sea which is almost surrounded by land.
* The Arabian Gulf is an example.
4.Straits
* A strait is a narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two large bodies of water,gulfs,seas or oceans.
* The Strait of Harmouz connects the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
