John was unable to defend his French territories so he raised taxes
The Barons
The Barons were unhappy and rebelled against the king
They occupied London with the name 'Army of God'
They forced King John to sign the Magna Carta in Runnymead in 1215
What it did in 1215
The clauses defend the freedom and rights of the English Church, of London and other towns
It contains 63 clauses. Only 3 are still in law today
recognised and solved the conflict between King John and the barons and bishops.
