Athens was a direct democracy that means citizens have more power than in a
representative democracy
If you were 20 years or older and a Male you had an obligation and were forced to vote.
Women and slaves were not considered citizens.
Only 10 percent of Athenians were considered citizens and only they were allowed to vote.
That meant that 90 percent could not vote.
That is not a fair democracy as I see it because nowadays everyone in a democracy can vote no matter what but you have to be 18 or more.
Members of council and court were chosen by lottery
for important decisions at least 6000 citizens had to attend.
A member of the council could only serven once in a lifetime.
Sometimes the people shout down the speaker in the assembly.
Participants were paid a small amount for showing up.
Citizens were paid a small amount for jury duty too
i think its not so democratic because not everyone can vote
nowadays everyone can vote
and it wasn't so democratic because the citizens were obligated to vote
in a fair democracy it is a right but not a must

How democratic was really Athens?
