A Thermistor in a Potential Divider makes a Temperature sensor
Using a thermistor and a variable resistor in a potential divider, you can make a temperature sensor that triggers an output device at a temperature you choose
You can make a temperature sensor that gives you a high voltage output when it's hot and a low voltage output when it's cold.
This is how it works:
When the thermistor's cold its resistance is very high, so the voltage drop across it is almost 5V, meaning the voltage of the output is nearly 0V
As the temperature of the thermistor increases, its resistance falls dramatically. So the voltage across it is almost 0V and the voltage of the output is nearly 5V.
