- One reserved power the UK parliament has is over immigration to the UK.
  - This means that the UP parliament gets to make decisions about which people are allowed to visit or stay and work in the counry.
    - An example of this is when as of January 2021 the UK parliament ended free movement of EU citizens into the UK.
      - In January 2021 the UK parliament introduced a points based system for all people coming into the UK, with a person needing at least 70 points to qualify for a visa.
- The UK parliament has power over defence and national security.
  - This means they may laws controlling the movement of the navy, army and airforce as well as preventing terrorist attacks to keep the country safe.
    - For example the UK parliament ordered UK troops to take military action against chemical weapon factories in Syria and they also passed a law preventing people from travelling abroad to engage in terrorism.
- The UK parliament has power over constitutional issues.
  - This means that they have control over laws which affect how the country is run. Nicola Sturgeon is trying to get permission from the UK parliament to be able to hold a second referendum on Scottish Independence since breaking the union is a constitutional issues.
    - After the 1st Scottish Independence Referendum the UK parliament allowed the Scottish parliament more powers, such as over benefits levels.
