- Ethnicity is based on shared cultural identity.
- Cultural characterisitcs are shared in certain sub groups.
- Much more interested in culture (foods, langauge, etc).
Culture
- Cultures are complexes of learned perceptions and behavior patterns.
- Knowledge shared by a large group of people.
- The way of life of a group of people (beliefs, values, attitudes, etc.).
- Related to the environment and behavior.
- Race and ethnic differences may produce stereotypes and racism.
- Certain groups may be discriminated against.
- How someone is defined.
- People of the same race can have different cultures.
- Both share an identity with their people.
- Ethnicity uses culture to define itself.
- Every one is going to be classified somehow by each of these three things.
