Acids

- pH base: Less than 7.0.
- Depending on the temperature, acids can occur in solid, liquid or gaseous form.
-Taste sour.
- Strength: depends on concentration of the hydronium ions
-Phenolphthalein- remains colorless
- reacts with bases
- watery
- turns blue litmus paper red
- seperates into hydrogen ions (H+) in water

Bases

- bitter
- slippery
- turns red litmus paper blue
- don't react w/ carbonates
- reacts with acids
- separates into hydroxide (OH-) ions in water
-pH higher than 7
- Reduce the concentration of hydgoren ions in a solution
- Ex. Antiacid, Hand Soap, and Ammonia
- an aqueous substance

- react with litmus
- are compoubnds
- release ions in solutions
- form salt and water when combined
- Conduct electricity and when reacting they release heat
