Xylem

-Transport water from roots to stems and leaves, but it also
transports nutrients. Vascular tissue in plants conducts water and dissolves nutrients upwards from the root and helps to form the 'woody element' in the stem. Comparing with the phloem.

Phloem

- living tissue in vascular plants that transports the soluble organic compounds made during photosynthesis, mostly in the sugar, parts of the plant are needed.

Xylem and phloem are the vascular tissues for plants. Xylem -transportation of water up into the plant phloem -moves sugars and other materials.
