Refugee compare and contrast

He is in the time of the holocaust. The nazi’s were very cruel even to children and to hurt a child you would have be crazy messed in the head. Josef’s dad is as you could call him cray cray because the concentration camp messed him up in the head like he was constantly looking around as if he were being watched or he was sprinting on to the St. Louis ship so no Nazi’s could catch him before it was to late. Josef finally has had fun in many, many years with pranking people for laughs. Josef betrays his dad bye making a promise he can't keep. His father jumped off the boat and was rescued by a cuban police officer. We found out that the cuban officer that sent them back to europe is actually lito isabel's grandfather. in the end of the book there getting chased by nazis and they get caught then josef and mama die and ruthie lives.
She is a trumpet player that is going to have to leave because her dad will get arrested because of the rioting. Isabel as you can tell will give anything to save her family like she gave a fisherman a cat for gasoline after he wouldn't take her trumpet(she is selfless) isabel is in a sticky situation because her boat is sinking with a gunshot hole. In the middle of the book they make it and people have to switch between riding inside and outside of the boat but then ivan gets bite by a shark and he dies a slow horrible death. Then like 20 mins later they see el norte and then the coast guard is quick on their tail then they make it on the beach at last. Then it fast forwards to a year later in there new home and she plays the national anthem on her trumpet with clave
n the beginning the war with syria is going on and mahmoud's life has completely shattered his home exploded and they needed to leave. First they went to turkey then to the northern sea then to lesbos, greece, then after that to athens greece, after all that they had made it to macedonia again to serbia, after another long trip the family made to hungary, finally they had made it to berlin germany. Throughout their journey they had gone face to face with death there was a time where they almost drowned in the northern sea, the family went face to face to a gun and the taxi driver only wanted a certain amount of money instead of the entire stack of cash that Mahmoud’s family. Another life or death situation is when they were driving across the border and the patrol officer which was actually a rebel asked who they rooting for and waleed yells and says “whoever isn’t shooting at us.” and pretty much saved their lives. Back to germany, when they got there they found out that the people they were staying with, were holocaust survivors. It is cool how the jewish culture is close to mahmoud's culture were they prayers are very alike. Still, at the end the family wants to find Hana.
