1. Culture-

Ex.These groups are distinguished by a set of unspoken rules that shape values, beliefs, habits, patterns of thinking, behaviors and styles of communication.
4. Diversity-
4.the wide range of national, ethnic, racial and other backgrounds of U.S. residents and immigrants as social groupings, co-existing in American culture
Ex. The term is often used to include aspects of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class and much more.
5. Race-
5. a social construct that artificially divides people into distinct groups based on characteristics such as physical appearance
Ex. (particularly color), ancestral heritage, cultural affiliation, cultural history, ethnic classification.
6.Racial and Ethnic Identity-
6. the racial and ethnic categories that an individual chooses to describe him or herself
Ex.Based on such factors as biological heritage, physical appearance, cultural affiliation, early socialization and personal experience.
7.Identity Contingencies-
7.the things you have to deal with in a situation because you have a given social identity
Ex. Being old, young, white male, woman, conservative or liberal, diagnosed with a mental health disorder.
2. Cultural Racism-
2. those aspects of society that overtly and covertly attribute value and normality to the dominant group of a society and devalue, stereotype and label minority groups as different, less than or render them invisible
Ex. Defining white skin tones as nude or flesh colored.
8. Discrimination-
8. the unequal treatment of members of various groups based on race, gender, social class, sexual orientation, physical ability, religion and other categories
Ex. Black people were not allowed to swim in the same public pools as white people.
9. Prejudice-
9. a pre-judgment or unjustifiable, and usually negative, attitude of one type of individual or groups toward another group and its members
Ex. Such negative attitudes are typically based on unsupported generalizations (or stereotypes) that deny the right of individual members of certain groups to be recognized and treated as individuals with individual characteristics.
3. Collusion-
3. when people act to perpetuate oppression or prevent others from working to eliminate oppression
Ex. The city council and real estate concoct a plan to keep a particular group from residing in a specific neighborhood.
10. Stereotype
10. to believe unfairly that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same
Ex. It's not fair to stereotype a whole group of people based on one person you don't like.
