There were different jobs for slaves. Most slaves worked on tobacco fields. The slaves that worked in the fields, worked very hard, but they were treated poorly. Another slave job was a house servant. The house servants did chores. Some house servants helped the masters trade shop.

The slaves came from different countries. The trip to America was not so pleasant. The slaves were cramped in the lower deck of the ship. They did not have bathrooms, so you know where that goes. And they didn't have very good food. If you got sick on the ship, you were most likely to die.

Slaves that worked on the fields got one set of clothes to last them one year. The clothes were similar to the farmers, but the farmer had more than one pair. The woman slaves wore long dresses. The men slaves wore pants and a baggy shirt. Slaves that worked in the house wore there masters old clothes.

House servants are basically maids. House servants did chores around the house, such as, doing the dishes, washing clothes, folding clothes, cooking, and other chores.
