A famous rapper that at the age of 16 made her first album, Ill Na Na which would sell over a million copies was the fabulous Inga Marchand, or her stage name Foxy Brown. She would get this stage name from a sassy character in a movie she enjoyed. With her first album being a huge success she started to team up with other famous rappers, such as, Jay-Z who stared in some of her songs in a later album, Chyna Doll which would make it onto #1 on the Billboard's chart. However, some of her fame came from even before her first album where she featured in a “I Shot Ya” remix, with a lot of other huge rappers, including Fat Joe and LL Cool J. This would gain the attention of a lot of people questioning who she was and would help her obtain more fans from this early introduction. Although, this helped jumpstart her rapping career, a lot of her early success also came from her most successful song from her first album, “Get Me Home.”
The song “Get Me Home” was one of the most well-known songs in her first album and at the time, when internet was not yet created, it was extremely unlikely to get noticed quickly, especially if you were a woman. However, with this song as one of her best songs, it would prove that women are as capable as the men in creating nice rap music. To be considered a popular rap artist during the 1990’s and not being a man, is something incredible since almost every famous musician was a male. After her debut album, she would go on to make a second one, Chyna Doll and with its massive success, it established Foxy Brown as one of the most popular female rappers of the decade.
