The following images are my opinion on the most important inventions from (1760-1840 CE).
The Cotton Gin
The Cotton Gin was invented by Eli Whitney. It mechanized the process of removing seeds from cotton, something that had previously been done largely by hand. What made this invention particularly special was its use of interchangeable parts. If one part broke, it could just be replaced easily by the same part because they where mass produced. Because they where mass produced the replacement parts where not that expensive. This made processing cotton cheaper, this would create new market and wealth.
the steam engine
The steam engine was invented by James Watt. It was used primarily to pump water and air into and out of mines. It is important because up until that point it was the only engine of its kind. Other engines where crude, unreliable, and inefficient.
the bessemer steel process
The Bessemer steel process was invented by Henry Bessemer. It removed impurities from the iron by oxidation with air being blown through the molten iron. It was the first inexpensive industrial process for the mass production of steel from molten pig iron before the development of the open hearth furnace.
The spinning Jenny
The spinning jenny was invented by James Hargreave. This machine used eight spindles onto which the thread was spun. So by turning a single wheel the operator could now spin eight threads at one time. It was important because it increased production and efficiency.
the small pox vaccine
The small pox vaccine was created by Edward Jenner. The vaccine helped cure small pox. It is important because following his creation doctors all over Europe soon adopted Jenner's innovative technique, leading to a drastic decline in new sufferers of the devastating disease.
Pasteurization of milk
Louis Pasteur created pasteurization, which was originally used to prevent wine and beer from souring. If that wasn't enough, he also came up with a rabies vaccine. Pasteurization is important for knowing what causes disease.
Water frame
The Water Frame was invented by Thomas Highs. It is a water powered spinning frame which was en easy way to create cotton thread. The first time the machine was used in 1768. It was able to spin 128 threads at a time, which was an easier and faster method than ever before.
Puddling
Puddling was one step in one of the most important process of making the first appreciable volumes of high grade bar iron during the Industrial Revolution. In the original puddling technique, molten iron in a reverberatory furnace was stirred with rods, which were consumed in the process. It was one of the first processes for making bar iron without charcoal in Europe, although much earlier coal based processes had existed in China.
