This slideshow deals with the basics of effective technology integration and how to think about it.
Objective 4: Relevant Issues & Problem Solving
Students can use digital tools to deal with real-world problems and address issues that are important to them at any age level. These can integrate reading/writing skills, math skills, and science or social studies topics. Other areas may also be incorporated.
What issue/problem comes to mind that you might encourage students to research and address through letter-writing to the appropriate authorities?
Use technology to differentiate for students in how they learn, how they show their mastery, or by interest. Technology can be a powerful mode of differentiation!
*Digital PBL (esp. those based on real-world/ real-life problems) [bie.org]
*Create a digital advertisement for a “cause” [Canva]
*Have students keep a digital portfolio of work with self-assessment rubrics for included items [Google drive]
*Use varying tools to allow students to choose a mode of mastery exemplar work
Objective 5: Digital Learning Environment
Think about ways that you can encourage digital learning through your classroom environment. What works? What may need to be changed?
THIS RESOURCE
This presentation is created with ClassTools.net. It is an exciting way to integrate different modalities of learning with links and information. It is a free tool with many different options!
Objective 2: Goal Setting
Futureme.org is a site that will send an email in the future. It is a great tool for goal setting and accountability. While the public sharing is only allowed for ages 13 and over, I would recommend only using it as a PRIVATE mode of setting a goal for yourself/students for a WEEKLY, UNIT, SEMESTER, or YEARLONG educational goal. Quickly try your hand at it now. Go to the website (linked above) and send yourself a question as to whether or not something you plan to do next week has gotten done. When you go to the site, select "Choose Specific Date" to set the date for the email to be delivered March 29, 2018.
