Islamic literature has been around for hundreds of years. This book, the Koran, started as words by the prophet, Mohammed. His followers decided to make his words into a book. They wanted to write it in human form, so anyone who knew Arabic could read it (people who are Islamic have to learn this, even if they do not know Arabic).
