European affect on Americas (Social)

The European explorations in the Americas affected them socially by establishing the racially based slavery system. Before the Europeans landed slavery was purely based on power in the Americas, but after race played a major role. This picture shows this by depicting a plantation where slaves were often used to accomplish all of the tiring work.

Affect on Europe (Social)

Europe not only affected the places it touched but it also was changed as well. This picture shows the ever growing seperation of social classes in Europe that only increased due to exploration and the discovery of trade goods. It occurred because those who already had money and could spend some to send people out to explore for them, or go themselves, got even richer when they found things like gold and silver. The king in this picture is increasing in profit while his poor suffer and reach out while his focus is turned to unknown territories. The painting also indicates the rise of capitalism around the world.

European Effect on Africa (Social)

This picture represents the changing social aspects in Africa after the European explorers came. Slave owners lost whatever respect for human life they had left and sold their slaves like cattle to the highest European buyer. Instead of keeping slave families together, like in Africa, they were separated and the concept of family was gone and respect for people in general was just a distant memory.

European Effect on the Americas (Culture)

This picture shows a latin american saint, San Juan Nepomuceno, holding a crucifix, most likely in prayer. This artifact shows how when European explorers came to the Americas they implemented their culture and religion unto the natives. Some took the religion on willingly while others were forced, but none the less Christianity was syncretized with the native latino culture, both were significantly changed. The faith added many different saints only for the Americas while natives dropped their religion in favor of the ever evolving Christianity.

World Trade Connections (Asia Economy)

This picture shows an Asian merchant bringing their fish to market. It was painted by a European artist seeing the trade circulate through the triangle (Europe, Africa, and Americas) and then go through Europe to Asia. When Asian products were sold to Europeans they often found themselves inside the triangle of trade and then Africa and the Americas tried and wanted more. This allowed Asia to enter and open up worldwide trade, boosting their economy. Asia's social aspects were also changed due to trade. Merchants were valued higher due to the demand for the their products. World-wide trade increased everyone's economy as money was traded all over the globe.

This artifact represents Europe's effect on African culture. When explorers came into Africa they spread their culture and religion throughout the region. Christianity reached place in the Congo and this relic was made there to allow others to practice near it. African and European culture mixed as it traveled through the continent and the native culture would never be the same. Not only was the pure African culture somewhat lost, but the European- African culture also spread into the Americas when the travelers moved on.

Effect on Europe (Economic)

When European explorers came into different lands (Africa, Asia, and the Americas) they brought back with them many different trade items and riches. These riches include silver, gold, spices, and clothing. This picture shows boats returning from travels to their homelands (Europe) filled with all of these commodities. Europe exploded with an influx of profit for the wealthy and so became much more interested in what else was out in the world that could make them even richer. It was because of this that they continued to explore and investigate.

European Effect on the Americas (Economic)

This statue represents the influence trade with Europe had on the Americas. Because the two were in contact, horses and many other helpful livestock were brought over and foods were sent back in return. The use of livestock in the Americas helped to boost work and therefore the economy. The work was easier to do so more could be done and more money could be made. The statue is in the Americas and would not exist without European influence on their economy.

Effect of the Americas on Europe (culture)

This coin is part of a series made by a European and they have native American people inscribed on them. This person admired the different ways of the natives on the strange land. He lived and studied with them for a while and then headed back to Europe, where he made these coins. He later, along with many other people, felt remorse for the way the native American people were treated. This changed the outlook on their culture as well as other cultures. The Americas significantly diversified the European culture.

Francisco Pizarro (explorer)

Francisco Pizarro was a spanish explorer that traveled to the Incan Empire. He subdued the Incas and took control of their territory. Most considered Pizarro's methods cruel because he used deceit and bloodshed to control the natives. No matter his methods, Pizarro did claim parts of the Americas for Spain and altered everything about them, economically, culturly, and socially.
