Propaganda was a big part of the cold war. Propaganda was one of the reasons the war started. The U.S and USSR both made propaganda to get their citizens on their sides.
Bay of Pigs
The bay of pigs was a failed invasion on the coast of Cuba. Around 1,400 Cubans that fled when Fidel Castro took over were trained by Americans and the CIA launched an attack, but it did not go well. The invaders were outnumber and quit fighting within 24 hours.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13 day confrontation between the United States and Soviet Union concerning ballistic missiles deployment in Cuba. Kennedy announced the presence of the missiles to Americans. He decided to show that the U.S was ready to use military force.
John F. Kennedy
Kennedy was the president at the time of The Cold War. Kennedy demonstrated his leadership skills when he tried to compromise with Nikita Khrushchev to avoid nuclear war. Kennedy tried to avoid war because he knew it wouldn't be good.
The Soviet Union
The Soviet Union was one of the main reasons The Cold War started. They put nuclear missiles in Cuba and threatened the U.S. They used propaganda and other ways to make the U.S seem bad.
The United States
The U.S did not want to start a war, however they were not totally innocent. They did not want to start a war, but were ready for one. They made proper defenses so they could be prepared.
Nikita Khrushchev
Nikita Khrushchev was the was a soviet statesman who lead the Soviet Union during The Cold War. He was the First Secretary of the Communist party in the Soviet Union. He made a deal with Fidel Castro to place missiles in Cuba so the U.S would stop trying to invade them.
