The cold war started in 1947. The cold war was a open and yet restricted rivalry that developed after World War II between the United States and and the Soviet Union and their allies. The cold war was waged on political, economic, and propaganda fonts and had only limited resources for weapons.
Bay of Pigs
The Bay of Pigs invasion occurred on April 17, 1961, and ended two days after. A group of 1,500 Cuban exiles were trained and financed by the CIA launched an ill-fated invasion on Cuba from the sea. The plan was to overthrow Fidel Castro and his revolution.
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis happened on October 16, 1962. This was a direct and dangerous confrontation between the U.S. and Soviet Union. This was the moment when the two superpowers came close to nuclear war.
Soviets Preparing for war
