The Cold War was a time of tension between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.By 1947 the Cold War was starting to become known. Economic struggle between two world superpowers.

The closest to the US and the Soviets actually fighting. It also includes nuclear warfare. Also known as the October Crisis.\
Strategic arms limitation
First time the Soviet Union and the United States agreed to limit the number of nuclear missiles in their arsenals. Also was one of the first steps to slow the arms race.
Korean War
This is where things got really hectic for the Soviet Union and the United States. Also where North Korea invaded South Korea.China fought with North Korea, the Soviet Union sent them military equipment. The United States sent most of the troops that were sent to aid South Korea.
Soviets invade Afghanistan
The US and the Soviets each back a different side and this led to the US boycotting the 1980 Olympics.This war lasted over nine years.In support of the Afghanistan communist government in its conflict with anti-communist.
Space race
The US and Soviets had a rivalry going on about space and who can get the farthest first. Soviets started beating the United States with Sputnik 1. However ,when they kept competing it actually brought them together and made the International Space Station.
Berlin Blockade and Airlift
One of the first major international crises of the Cold War. Was a turning point in post World War 2 Europe.Planes were used to get around the Soviet blockade of Berlin.
Reunited Germany
East Germany was no longer Communist, and this was evidence that the War Saw Pact's days were numbered. Germany only reunited because the Communist Party in East Germany began to lose its grip on power. " The control and restrictions on the East Germans through Stasi was a Soviet phenomenon. It was due to the Cold war".
U-2 Reconnaissance Plane
The US's CIA had a plane trying to spy on the Soviets and the Soviets shot it down and that led to a very embarrassing moment for the United States. The plane was also named the "Dragon Lady". Led to the collapse of the Paris Summit at the height of the Cold War.
Reagan visits the Wall
When President Ronald Reagan visited the Berlin wall it showed commitment to the people of west Berlin. He felt as though families shouldn't be torn away from each other. He made a whole speech on why the wall should be torn down and even said " Tear the wall down".
