After the Berlin wall came down 25 years ago

The fall of the Berlin wall was a big happiness for the people living in East and West Berlin because they could finally get better jobs or meet their lost family.

During the period of the Berlin Wall, approximately 60,000 people could not cross the wall in order to meet their well-paying jobs. This left people on the East side of Germany unemployed and unable to pay off taxes and incomes. Before the period of the Berlin Wall after World War II, the West side of Germany had much less poverty and better-paying jobs that offered more wage than East Germany.

During the period that the wall was up, the government prevented people from passing to either side of the wall. The government tried to set up more armed forces at the wall to prevent so many people from escaping. East German guards killed more than 100 people who were trying to escape. As more people were becoming disappointed with the economy of East Germany and the political views, more and more people were fleeing everyday.
The German Democratic Republic of West Germany feared that if the wall was taken down, I would cause war between East Germany and West Germany. The government struggled for many years to finally come to a conclusion.

During the period that the Berlin Wall was up, it divided the country physically and emotionally. People weren't allowed to cross sides, visit family members, communicate in any way from both sides, or to go to their jobs if they were on opposite sides.By the late 1960's, people wanted to leave east Germany because they could not stand being ruled by the Soviet Union.By the late 1970's East Germany was loosing most of its population. The population of East Germany was going down rapidly as around 1,500 people were fleeing everyday.

Economic uncertainty was one of the main reasons for the fertility drop. Which kind of parents decide to still have children in such economic times, and does this parental selection matter in terms of the cohort's outcomes? an economic downturn has two opposite effects on the demand for children: it reduces household income , but it also reduces the opportunity costs of having children .

Children were interested to know what is behind the wall they are living behind, so they played games to do with that such as wall building which is shown in the picture. Some Adults were born and raised half of their life without knowing whats behind the wall.

All in all, even after the Berlin wall was demolished, it impacted society greatly, and opened their eyes to what people could fight for. Many people who lived through this, kept pieces of the wall as memories. They reminded them of the dark times, and that everything got better. For most people 's hope.
