The First Day
Its the next day of the Battle of Gettysburg and the Union Army had established strong positions from Culp's Hill to Cemetery Ridge. Commanders James Longstreet and Richard Ewell had planned an attack on Union commander Daniel Sickles. Longstreet had his troops take on the left side of the enemy and Ewell take on the right side of the enemy. Bloody fighting raged on for several hours along Sickles line from The Devil's Den to the near by wheat field. The battle ended with Sickles being hurt and both armies having 9,000 casualties or more.
