No trees just people this is how it was in 1851 people cutting down trees and not caring about the environment. It would be okay if just a few people were chopping down trees but because there were hundreds of people it was pretty hard to look after the environment and that's why they simply didn't care about the environment.
Dirty water
Transport in the 1850s was okay but not as good as it is now. Transport was on everyone's minds when there first steam train came out but I don't think that was a good thing for the environment. Workers building the track and digging the plants out of sight. When the train finally got finished everyone wanted to go on this train so they bought tickets some going on first class and the rest going on the lowest class. The first class was to be away from where the steam was coming out of and the other class to be next to the steam what left lot's of people sick.
Smoke
Smoke Has killed people for a long time and in the 1850's lot's of people had to work with the smoke or were next to the smoke and sadly most of those people died.
Before the goldrush
Before the gold rush Australia was a beautiful area to live and a environmental friendly place. We had lots of trees and lots of pretty water but when the gold rush happened it turned pair shape.

Toxic water in the 1850's most deaths were caused mostly from gold mining. Why was it caused by gold mining because people used it also to cook and gold pan so all that yauky water made people sick.
What happens when you make a mine
What happens when you make a mine. When someone is making a mine it takes lot's of hard work but not just hard work for the people it is also hard for the environment. People digging the dirt and probably kill'd lot's of the plants and that wasn't good.
