Frances Perkins life goal was to do the best for the American people. "Working with the poor and the unemployed, she became convinced of her vocation.”

Many people believed that Frances Perkins was great, although some people did not like that she was so strong on social justice. “Although Roosevelt leaned heavily on her, Perkins’s strong attachment to social justice rendered her an unpopular figure in Congress and the press.”

Some people like CEO’s of businesses would not like her because she supported the minimum wage, meaning the CEO’s did not get as much money.

Frances Perkins childhood

-I was born on April 10th 1880 in Boston Massachusetts to my father Fredrick Perkins and my mother Susan E. Bean.

-When I was just a few years old my mother had my little sister Ethen Perkins.

-I grew up in a middle class family and had an exceptional education especially for being a women

-I graduated from Worcester's Classical High Schoo

Adulthood

I went to the following colleges;

- Mount Holyoke College (majoring in physics and two minors in chemistry and biology) 

-Pennsylvania's Wharton School (majoring in sociology and economics) 

-Columbia’s University (received my master’s degree in sociology and economics)

I married my husband Paul Caldwell Wilson. I only had one child, Susanna Wilson Coggeshall on December 30th 1916.

Through my life I was a teacher, politician, activist, official, sociologist, and social reformer. Roosevelt put me in cabinet and from there I served under him for many years. I was the first women in the cabinet. Two months after Roosevelt died, I resigned from the Cabinet, but continued to be in U.S. government as a civil service commissioner until 1953. 

I died of a stroke on May 14th 1965.

Major Accomplishments and Imact

I was the first woman in the administrative position in New York and had a very high salary of $8000.

I was the first woman in Cabinet, and I served under President Roosevelt.

Instead of being like most women, I went to court in order to keep my last name when I married my husband and succeeded.

-Nation Labor Relations Act

-Social Security Act

-Fair Labor Standards Act

Challenges of being a Hero

Frances Perkins was a strong woman who was a hero and worked really hard as a member under Roosevelt’s cabinet, to make pay more fair, limit child labor, and give women their deserved rights

She worked very hard in her life, even though some people may not have liked a women in Cabinet, she did nothing that would make her a villain.
