Myth of the founding of Rome
This is a painting regarding the myth of the founding of Rome. According to popular belief, Romulus fought his brother Remus in order to gain power of land. Romulus won hence the name Rome which is said to be named after him.
Religion in Rome
The religion in Rome was polytheistic. The Romans served gods such as Ceres, Mercury, Jupiter, Juno, Neptune, Minerva, Mars, Venus, Apollo, Diana, Vulcan, and Vesta. In this painting, it is a picture of the Pantheon which is dedicated to all the Gods.
ROMAN GOVERNMENT
The Roman government was a mix between a democratic nation and one of dictatorship standards. During when Rome was a republic it was under a Senate, whereas ancient times it was under total dictatorship. This painting displays Rome during the time it was a republic.
JULIUS CAESAR/IDES OF MARCH
Julius Caesar, hailed dictator for life was one of the most despicable but successful leaders. Caesar successfully prevented the invasion of Rome by Gaul. But, due to his nature of maintaining the dictatorship mindset eventually landed him to his death. On the dreadful day of March 15, 44 B.C. a group of his own constituents assassinated Julius Caesar. This painting above shows the ambush that Caesar faced before the stabbing assassination took place on that day.
AQUEDUCTS OF ROME
To better meet the needs of people in ancient Rome, aqueducts were created. There were 11 aqueducts total created to benefit and meet the needs of people. Their names are Aqua Appia, Aqua Anio Vetus, Aqua Marcia, Aqua Tepula, Aqua Julia, Aqua Virgo, Aqua Alsietina, Aqua Claudia, Aqua Anio Novus, Aqua Traiana, and Aqua Alexandrina. ROMAN ARCHITECTURE
Architecture also played a major role in the lives of Romans. Most of their architecture is inspired by the Greeks, and the architecture is very well done. Above you will see the Trajan's column which was a building that was built for the honoring of emperor Trajan for victory in the battle in the Dacian War.
