The Staatliches Bauhaus was an arts school founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius a german architect in Weimar Germany The term Bauhaus translates to "building house", despite its name and its founder th Bauhaus did not have an architure department until the idea of Gesamtkunstwerk which means "total work of art" was founded and brought all art forms together including architecture.

Walter Gropius was a German architect throughout the years of the Weimar Republic. Gropius is widley known as one of the pioneers of modern architeture. Gropius's projects included the "Monument to the March Dead" dedicated to the nine who died resisting the Kapp Putsch, he also competed for the design for the Reichsbank building, submitting a detailed plan.
