The Weimar Republic was the unofficial name for the short lived German state that was created in 1918 with the abdication of Kaiser Wilhelm II and ran for approximately 15 years before being overthrown by Hitler in 1933. The Weimar Republic was weak and largely ineffective having various problems such as Hyperinflation and Civil War. However the chaos and the unique set of circumstances led to an extremely unique culture in various fields such as drama and art.

Circumstances of the Weimar Republic
The Weimar Republic had many problems with unemployment and hyperinflation. Due to the fact that the hyperinflation would wipe out life savings, people were hesitant to be conservative with their money and would prefer to use the money on things instead. The unemployment also led to people not having much to do and would cause them to spend more time at dramas and clubs. Because of this materialistic view, the culture was unique. Nudity was extremely common and people were hedonistic. Drugs and prostitution was extremely common.
