Adoration of the Magi is a Gothic artwork, created by an Italian artist, Gentile da Fabriano, in 1423. This artwork is drawn to be very realistic, and portrays lots of movement, and emotion from the people.
According to "The Arts, a visual encyclopedia", the Three Wise Men came to praise baby Jesus, and brought him many gifts.
Behind the artwork and the story, there is no message or a meaning that was supposed to be portrayed from the characters. But compared to the other old styles of painting, Gothic art is mean't to look very realistic. If artists were supposed to paint the Virgin Mary, or Jesus in Gothic style on a church's walls, they would need to use their imagination, and fantasize what they would've really looked like.
