This picture was painted by Wassily Kandinsky in 1923. Wassily Kandinsky (December 16 1866 - December 13 1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally known as the pioneer of abstract art. Born in Moscow he then spent his childhood in Odessa (now known as Ukraine). He went to the University of Moscow, where he studied law and economics. He graduated at Grekov Odessa Art School. Kandinsky began painting studies (life-drawing, sketching and anatomy) at the age of 30.
In 1996 Kandinsky moved to Munich, studying at Anton Azbe’s private school, and then at the Academy of Fine Arts.
