During 1700's in England, most land was rural and people would often stick to farm work
Before the Revolution around the 1700's, farming was a lot more difficult. People mostly lived in rural areas and property was very spread out. People earned their living from farming, goods, trade and sometimes marriage. They food they had was made from natural resources, were made by hand, and once an a while received from trade. The role of the children was to work. Sons tended to the land and tended to live stock with father while the daughters did at home work (domestic work). The children did hard labor. Over all people had to work pretty hard for things they wanted like food or clothing. People would produce enough to feed themselves/families and sell in the local market place. People would often work till sun up and down to keep their crops alive, and didn't have any machines to help them. This would later lead to the agricultural revolution.
