During the 1870s since women were treated badly many women joined and participated in union activity. They striked and violated contracts to fight for their goals. They wanted better wages, healthcare, respectful treatment, and accommodated domestic duties with work.
Agriculture
During the Agricultural Revolution, new farming/cropping techniques were found and hand made production changed to machine made production.
Enclosure Movement
In 1760 a series of laws called the Enclosure Acts was passed by Parliament. That meant that landowners can buy pieces of common land from the government. Rich landowners took over and consolidated land shared by the peasantry. For sheep grazing and wool, and larger fields that could be used to cultivate crops. Then the farm output increased.
Factory
After the invention of the new machinery, factories were made. Therefore mass production became easier. Many women were hired to work at textile factories.
Urbanization
Jobless farm workers migrated to bigger cities to find work. People migrated mainly to cities that had factories. Britain's population soared from about 5 million in 1700 to almost 9 million in 1800.
Child Labor
Children were easy to hire during the industrial revolution. Many families were poor therefore they sent their kids to factories to work and earn money. But they were treated so badly.
Women Workers
During the industrial revolution women were considered to have nimble fingers. Therefore the only place that was able for women to work was at textile factories.
Envoirnment
Since many people moved to urban cities to find work, as a result there were a lot of tenements made. Usually people shared a tiny room with many other people. However many people were poor to afford a place to live so they ended up sleeping in the streets.

Protest
Since the working environment was unsafe and the work time was unfair many people protested. Many women workers joined a union and striked, held rallies and meetings, had mass demonstrations, marched, collected signatures, and was encouraged to sabotage factory equipment.
