In the victorian era only the rich people would have detached houses, this means that the poor families were living in a tight, enclosed space.The houses were dark and damp as there was no light coming into the buildings.The buildings were also poorly made with unreliable materials and the houses were not really that sustainable.

unclean water

The Victorian water suply was very unclean and dirty. This is because the sewage of the citys could easily enter the water as the systems where not as good as they are now a days.Drinking this unclean water could give the drinkers cholera(which we will explain later) a deadly diease that could kill,they had no idea that the dirty water that they were drinking could lead to their death.

why whre the victorian streets so bad?

Victorian streets where an amazing place for diseases to breed and to spead easily. Lots of the sewage was on the city street floors and people had no choice but to step in the sewage.Piles of rubbish landed on the street and where staying there over time and rotting, no one wanted to picK up or get rid of any of the rubbish or sewage of course!

Chimney sweeping

-respiration problems due from breathing in soot particles for a lethy amount of time.

As a consequence of the growing number of factories, pollution increased throughout the Victorisn Era. Chimenys,mines and factories where ran on coal,when the coal was burnt a nasty smoke was given off. The workers in the factories worked close togther making the rooms stuffy,hot and dirty. the smoke from the factory made the walls dirty and the streets even more grimey

deadly diseases

scarlet fever-

-one of the most deadly diseases for children

-symtoms include,vommiting,body chills,loss of apitite

-large rashes formed and the victims had around 1 week to live.

typhiod-

-contacted by washing or drinking dirty water from the sewage

-people thought that they were drinking clean water when they had no idea it could kill them.

-people could throw nsny waste or sewage into water suplly maiing typhoid a big threat

chicken pox-

many children got this diease in the 1800 hundreds

-symptoms include small red dots all over the body and a terrible fever

-people thought that making herbal remides would make the dots stop appering

tuberculosis-

-one of the most common diseases in this era

-highly contagious

-killed every 1 in 4 people who where affected

lice

Lice were crawling all over the victorian streets and citizens.Head lice and body lice where both main threats.There were lots of people in one small space so if one person had lice it would spead very quickly from person to person and then everyone would have it.Head lice and body lice are both very small meaning that most of the time the small creatures are not visible to the eye this, makes them even harder to treat and get rid of.

herbal remidies

herbal remidies where what the victorian doctors would use to 'treat' their sick patients. they thought that there remidies where working and that it was a good way to cure patients really it wasnt working and if their patient got better it could be a coincedence. Bee balm is an example of an anticeptic that the victorian doctors would use, it was a treatment for cold most likely. Other examples include
