She was the Queen of England and Ireland from 1553 until her death. She is best known for her strong attempt to stop the English Reformation. Her attempt to restore to the Catholic Church was largely prevented by parliament, but during her five-year reign, Mary had over 280 Protestants executed, which led to her nickname "Bloody Mary".
