Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Christian minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. His "I have a Dream" speech inspired me even as a kid.
Mahatmat Ghandi
He was an Indian lawyer, politician, social activist, and writer who became the leader of the nationalist movement against the British rule of India. As such, he came to be considered the father of his country. Ghandi is internationally esteemed for his doctrine ofNonviolent protests to achieve political and social progress.
Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson was a multi-talented musical entertainer who enjoyed a chart-topping career both with the Jackson 5 and as a solo artist. He released one of the best-selling albums in history, 'Thriller,' in 1982, and had other number-one hits on 'Bad' and 'Off the Wall.' He was aalso known as the 'King of Pop, and personally I love his music.
Anne Frank
Jewish Anne Frank hid in 1942 from the nazi’s during the occupation of the Netherlands. Two years later she was discovered. In 1945 she died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. She is one of the most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust and her autobiography is well known worldwide. My family on my mother's side being Jewish, I admire her bravery and her story.
Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela was a social rights activist, politician and philanthropist who became South Africa's first black president from 1994 to 1999. After becoming involved in the anti-apartheid movement in his 20s, Mandela joined the African National Congress in 1942.
Winston Churchill
British statesman, orator, and author who as prime minister (1940–45, 1951–55) rallied the British people during WWII and led his country from the brink of defeat to victory.
Neil Armstrong
The first man to ever walk on the moon. He was a project pilot on many pioneering high speed aircraft, including the well known, 4000-mph X-15. He has flown over 200 different models of aircraft, including jets, rockets, helicopters and gliders.
The Wright Brothers
Wilbur and Orville Wright were American inventors and pioneers of aviation. In 1903 the Wright brothers achieved the first powered, sustained and controlled airplane flight; they surpassed their own milestone two years later when they built and flew the first fully practical airplane.
Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics. His work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. My favorite quote is this one: " Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
Muhammed Ali
Muhammad Ali was an American professional boxer, activist, and philanthropist. Nicknamed "The Greatest", he is regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century and as one of the greatest boxers to have evr lived.
